Updated: Jan 11, 2022

A flashback arrestor is a gas safety device used in oxy-fuel welding and cutting to stop the flame or reverse flow of gas back into the equipment or supply line. A flashback arrestor uses a combination of safety elements to stop a flashback or reverse flow of gas. Below is a diagram of the safety elements that might be present in a flashback arrestor.

The video will show how the safety elements in the flashback arrestor works.

Different manufacturer of the flashback arrestor will have different combinations of the safety elements within the flashback arrestor itself. Industry standards requires the flashback arrestors to have at least 2 safety elements. At Messer, its flashback arrestors has all 4 safety elements packed within the flashback arrestor to provide users the optimum protection.
